Oh-my-freaking-GAWD! The Golden Girls meet Thelma & Louise with a dash of DeNiro.
Okay, so... my wife and I picked Saturday night to stay in and watch a movie. We knew what we didn't want but couldn't agree on much else and then we stumbled on this one, "Twilight Gangsters". We looked at each other, "meh, if we don't like it, we'll turn it off and watch something else."
From the description, you'd assume that it would be a real stretch of the imagination to watch a movie about three Korean older women who turn to bank robbery. It's completely improbable, totally impossible, and just plain stupid. Nope. Not this time. This was the movie of the year for us.
I'm not going to reveal to much of the story but it has a plausible plot/storyline, especially here in the US. These golden girls are hustling their way through their sunset years and it's not a pretty picture. They finally reach THE pinnacle of success in their lives, only to have everything yanked from their grasp as they play by the rules and nobody else does, yet again...
funny an original
I just finished watching the movie and I am really happy I read the previous reviews and decided to do it. The movie was funny smart and original, glad didn't pass it.
Unexpected little jewel
I would call it a "smart comedy". It makes you laugh, but with situations you would't expect. It almost makes you cry at times. It's an intense comedy, we recommend it!
